THE VILLAGE
Approximately 400 miles west-northwest of Anchorage, Bethel (Central Yupik: Mamterilleq) is the hub of the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta (YK-Delta). As the hub, Bethel is the administrative, transportation, and human services center for the 48 surrounding villages. There are 56 federally recognized tribes in the YK-Delta, and our population is majority Yup’ik, Cup’ik, and Athabascan descent. Our region is part of “Rural Alaska”, and the villages are not connected by roads to each other or the rest of the State. The only way into the YK-Delta is by plane or barge, and transportation within region is by small plane, and boat in the summer or ice road in the winter.
The Bethel Seventh-day Adventist Church was established in the late 1970s and many dedicated pastors, Bible workers, and AMA volunteers have served the church and community since that time. |

ADOPT-A-VILLAGE SUPPORTERS
With your support, we can continue our mission of spreading God’s love in the YK-Delta. In 2023, we look forward to continuing our village outreach, hosting an evangelism meeting in Bethel, and sponsoring a mental health mission group. We also continue our robust children’s ministries, including Sabbath Fun Club, Pathfinders, VBS, and Alaska Camps.
