Community Outreach
Community outreach is the cornerstone of the Arctic Missions ministry. Our goal is to have volunteers working and living in villages across Alaska, being the "Hands and Feet of Jesus." Through developing one-on-one relationships, bringing resources to these communities is greatly needed. Few of us truly understand the hardship, pain and hopelessness that can define life in Alaska villages. The effects of losing cultural identity for many Alaska Natives are passed down across generations in the form of addiction, domestic violence and suicide.
Considering these challenges, Arctic Mission Adventure (AMA) volunteers live in these communities, with the goal of integrating into village life and building relationships through ministries that meet the needs of both old and young. They feed the hungry, clothe the needy, provide day camps and Vacation Bible School and pray for those in need. Our volunteers are living out what it means to have a new identity by adopting Native communities into the family of Christ.
